Principal Investigator/Project Manager

Cody S. Davis

Cody S. Davis has a more than two-decade-long professional career in archaeology, across multiple states including Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arkansas, and Louisiana. In 2003, he achieved bachelor’s degrees in anthropology and psychology from Texas State University; the starting point for his career. During his undergraduate years, he learned hands-on skills at the Center for Archaeological Studies (CAS) under the guidance of Dr. Britt Bousman.

Cody then pursued a graduate degree in Anthropology at the University of Texas at Arlington under Dr. M. Kathryn Brown’s mentorship. His graduate studies focused on Historic Archaeology, with his thesis project involving archival research, oral history interviews, and analysis of historic artifacts unearthed during excavations at the Berachah Rescue Home (41TR217) in Arlington, TX. To reconstruct the site, now enveloped by urban development, he employed Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to map excavation units, site features, and georeference historic ortho-quads, topographic maps, and various historical maps.

Cody’s archaeological interests are multifaceted, spanning prehistoric and historic eras. He has conducted numerous studies focusing on sites across the American South and Southwest. His passion for the field extends to analyzing lithic debitage and stone tools from prehistoric sites. This interest originated during his undergraduate years at CAS and continues to thrive at ARC in subsequent prehistoric site analyses.
