Laboratory Director

Dawn Crawford earned a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and History from Texas A&M University in 2010. Following this, she enrolled at Southern Methodist University where she earned a Master of Arts in 2012 and a Ph.D. in 2022, both in Anthropology with a specialization in Archaeology. Her doctoral research focused on Classic period Maya households, examining issues of inequality and lithic production in Guatemala.

Dawn began her archaeological career in 2007, spanning diverse locations including Guatemala, Belize, Honduras, and the United States at both Prehistoric and Historic sites. Her expertise includes but is not limited to lithic production, handheld X-ray fluorescence, prehistoric ceramic analysis, inclusive of petrography and Neutron Activation Analysis, and historic artifact analysis.

Dawn is passionate about education, as evidenced through her teaching roles at Southern Methodist University and Collin College. She is especially interested in using archaeology to understand households and inequality in the Americas across time.

Dawn began working for ARC in May of 2019 as an analyst until she left the company to focus on her dissertation. In May of 2022, Dawn rejoined the ARC team as Lab Director. Dawn manages the analysis, curation, and storage of projects for the company. Her extensive academic background and hands-on experience significantly contribute to AR Consultants’ analytical and research capabilities.
